Closed Loop Systems

WHY DO YOU NEED A CLOSED SYSTEM TREATMENT?
Without effective water treatment, your closed system for central heating and/or air conditioning can suffer from:

Corrosion – ferrous and non-ferrous decomposition
Scale formulation – deposition of calcium and magnesium salts
Fouling – deposition of particulate matter
Microbiological activity – protozoa, pseudomona’s, biofilms, legionella, etc
These four key factors reduce efficiency, put your system at risk, shorten plant life, and waste energy, water and chemicals. It’s a well-known fact that poor control of your closed system can not only put your processes at risk, but can also squander thousands in wasted energy, chemicals and water charges.

At WaterPro, we have developed a comprehensive closed system treatment programme for effective management and improved performance. This is designed to keep your system operating safely and efficiently.

These services include:

Maintenance
System start up clean and passivation
Online monitoring systems for measuring corrosion and bacterial fouling rates
Dosing systems & manual dosing pot supply
Specialty chemical supply
Site specific programmes and service schedules
Legionella control and monitoring
Testing, documentation & reporting in accordance with BS 8552 2012
We are up to date with the latest legislation and regulations, particularly in regards to health and safety and the environment. You can be sure that the solution we deliver will be high quality, reliable, cost effective and tailored to meet your exact requirements.

Chemicals we use in our closed system treatment:

Cleaning chemicals
Nitrite corrosion inhibitor
Molybdate corrosion inhibitor
Tanin corrosion inhibitor
Antifreeze / Glycol mixed with corrosion inhibitor solutions

Alternatively, we also provide a sample bottle drop off/pick up service which allows your team to take samples while on site to be returned for analysis, reporting and recommendations.

Cooling Tower Cleaning

WHY SHOULD YOU KEEP YOUR COOLING TOWER CLEAN?
WaterPro believe in keeping our sites clean, safe and compliant for all parties involved. One of the easiest ways to do this is by keeping your cooling tower clean and compliant.

Cleaning your cooling tower at least every 6 months reduces the risk of bacterial infection that may be forming in parts of the tower where the treated water doesn’t reach. Tower cleans also remove any scale that may have formed which will help with the plant efficiency.

According to the NZS3666 Standard and Auckland Property and Nuisance Bylaw, cooling towers shall be tested once a month and cleaned when necessary, not exceeding a 6-month period. By not cleaning the tower, building owners, companies and directors could be liable and face large fines, and there is an increased risk of legionella being present.

WaterPro are thorough in their cleaning process, performing full system disinfections. Our cleaning process follows that which is stipulated in Victoria, Australia’s Legislation in Legionella risk management. Victoria is the highest legislated state in Australia, on the same level as the UK who are one of the highest legislated countries in the world.

Cleaning Process:

Online disinfection prior to dumping of water (biocide added and maintained for an hour with pH and FAC checks every 15 minutes)
Dumping of system, removing the fill pack, intake louvres and drift eliminators (when it is safe to do so) and cleaning these with a water blaster
Tower is refilled and another online disinfection is conducted with corrosion inhibitor added
Final shock dose of secondary biocide is added
Service engineers ensure site is left clean
During the cleaning process, we assess the performance of the tower and will notify building owners of any equipment that needs replacing e.g. strainers, spray nozzles, fans and fan housing. We will also send detailed reports including any corrosion, scaling or fouling that is noticed in the tower.

WaterPro’s reporting system is comprehensive and includes the following as stated in NZS3666:

Date, item of plant, equipment or system and nature of service provided
Results of periodic testing carried out
Details of defects found and rectification procedure undertaken
The name of the person and company performing the service
WaterPro use an online app system for reporting, allowing our service technicians to email the report as soon as it is completed on site.
